The statement should be simple, 1-3 sentences, easily remembered and free of jargon.
When composing the statement, the following should be considered:
Who are we, why do we exist, what do we do.
Who is this for.
How do we go about achieving it.
Aspirations-future of the project.

Will someone please elaborate on the idea of creating a form of equivalence between artist/participant? I think it's presumptuous to assume that the relationship is unequal to begin with.
I think that it's meant as ensuring that artist and participant are on equal ground. I agree with you, but I think that there's potential for a misunderstanding. Just as "to enjoy" could be considered fairly obvious, it was one of those things that we want to be certain we are doing.
